this is where i share my whole soul. i write about my struggles. my joys. my amazing life with my handsome husband. our photography company. our cat. wedding seasons. our travels. community. beer and coffee dates. probably lots about pizza, too. i believe that life is worth living. and sharing my story connects me to beautiful souls. i feel like i grow into a better human when i write and read stories. we all have something amazing to share with the world. this is my life in pink.

coffee and Jesus time

i've never had freshly ground coffee. this is the best tasting coffee i ever did have. we got it from world harvest. it's from europe. so i'm fancy now.
mmmm . coffee coffee coffee.

my favorite time to read my bible is with a hot cup of coffee. i feel so safe and warm. just me, my Jesus and my delicious hot drink. this past week my "no other gods" study was pretty remarkable. since day one it's been really deep and i feel myself changing more than i ever have with any study or any reading in all my 22 years. getting together with a group of likeminded women really helps, too. each friday we meet up and enjoy in prayer, encouragement, fellowship and study. i go home with my cup full and my heart yearning for more Jesus in me.

day 04 of last weeks study was titled "good goodbyes. the rich young ruler"
now, if you've been to any church at all i'm sure you've heard of the rich young ruler. the story is told in Mark 10:17-31, Matthew 19:16-30 and Luke 18:18-30

this rich young man came to Jesus and asked him what he had to do to gain eternal life with Christ. Jesus asks him a few questions, you know the commandments, have you kept them?
the rich young ruler is proud to say that he has kept all the commandments since he was a young boy. vs. 21a (i'm reading in Mark) says "then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, 'one thing you lack'..." then Jesus tells him to sell whatever he has and give it to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. vs 22 tells us that the rich young ruler was sad at this word and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

the rich young ruler has done really well his whole life. he has kept the commandments and feels that he's pretty near earning his spot in heaven. well, it doesn't work that way. for it is by grace we are saved through faith. it's a gift from God. just there for us to take! Jesus looked at the heart of this young man and he loves him, but he can see in the boy's heart that he is holding on to his worldly possessions and is missing out on what God has for his life because he's too busy worrying about his stuff.

wow! this guy talked to Jesus and was told what to do and he still left sad because he loves this worldly possessions more! what an idiot! if i had the chance to talk to Jesus and he told me exactly what to do, i wouldn't hesitate, i'd just do it!! ... wait... wrong! i am more like the rich young ruler than i'd like to admit..
i just love that Jesus looks on us and LOVES us. how beautiful. how perfectly romantic. he loves us and he knows what's best for us. he has created us and wants us to seek him, to be used for his glory. oh, how i want to be used! he looks at my heart and he sees that i'm lacking. he longs to be my sole satisfaction. but until i can let go of all my worldly possessions, i'm missing out.

Matthew 10:39 tells us that whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

happy Sunday. this was my church for the day. i woke up at 4am with a terrible tooth ache!?! so we didn't make it to church on time :/

i also learned how to clean out our nasty old coffee maker.
1 part distilled vinegar
2 parts water
fill coffee pot to fullest and "brew"
use a filter!
then to get the vinegar ick out of the pot, brew two more full pots, of just water. with filter.

enjoy your clean pot!
