while visiting nyc we discovered @doughnutplant and it made @ethanpburt very happy. you guys, ethan is in love with donuts 🍩 so the only right thing to do to celebrate his 30th birthday was to ask friends who love him to help me buy him $90 worth of celebratory donut goodness. he said he would drive all the way back to nyc just to eat more donuts and even though they shipped these right to our door, i’ll make him keep his word because i need to see new york in the fall. 🌃 😍 happy birthday to the best guy!🥳 #stuffaboutethan #donuts #happy30th #husbandsofinstagram #jacktrumanburt #thetravelingburts #doughnutplant #nyc

early on in our marriage ethan and i decided Christ is first, marriage is second and children (Lord willing) are third. we have loved becoming parents together and even though baby is needy, we still feel the strongest pull toward each other over jack. ethan lived this out beautifully immediately after j.tru was born. i was on the operating table, jack was so beautiful, we just met him and after wonderful skin contact, they took him to clean up and invited the new dad to go be with baby. ethan saw that jack was safe with the nurses and he said “i’ll stay with my wife. she’s first priority.” 😭 i know a lot of people think it’s noble to put your children first but we truly believe in marriage first. i am getting to live out our beliefs with my best friend and i am so happy. jack is needy, fussy, only wants mama, fights papa to sleep at night, and makes us very tired. he is also very loved, extremely wanted and makes our life fuller. but we intend to be intentional and fight for love and connection between husband and wife no matter how many years go by or how many kids we add to the picture. ❤️ #marriage #realtalk #parenthood #husbandandwife #stuffaboutethan #loveburtliving #athomewithbb #family #marriedlife #jacktrumanburt

i figured since i have waited and hoped and prayed for the days of having a baby i would automatically love every bit of the newborn/baby stage and having a sweet, needy baby of my own. and although there’s a lot to love about this, i was very surprised with how much i don’t love every bit. i have felt guilty about this, anxious, ungrateful, afraid to say anything because people lose babies all the time or can’t have them. and i was one of them for years.

but here i am. needing to process that this is hard and i am tired and feeble and weak and ashamed. but also i am here, even for this. working through, surrendering. honest, open. this is my story. and i believe it’s all meant to be shared as a walking testimony to how great my God is.💛... more on the blog. #linkinbio
